A Love to Kill is a Korean drama starring Bi/Rain/Jeong Ji Hoon (Kang Bok Gu) and Shin Mina (Cha Eun Seok). This drama aired from the end of October 2005 to the middle of December 2005 with 16 episodes.

Main Cast:

Bi as Kang Bok Gu
Shin Min Ah
as Cha Eun Seok
Kim Sa Rang
as Han Da Jung
Lee Ki Woo
as Kim Joon Sung

Synopsis: In A Love to Kill, Bi (Rain or Jeong Ji Hoon) plays a tough guy as the role of a K-1 Fighter, Kang Bok Gu. Bok Gu is a character who is dynamic in nature and grew up in a foster home. He falls in love with a woman whom he should not love. It was because of the woman, his emotionally-wounded brother fell off from the rooftop and became a human vegetable. So, his love is forbidden and inevitably tragic.

The woman is Cha Eun Seok (Shin Mina) who is a TV talent and movie actor. It was not that she jilted his brother on purpose, but upon a basis of misunderstanding, his hatred toward Cha Eun Seok grows more and more burning.

By becoming Cha Eun Seok’s private bodyguard, Bok Gu keeps concretely practicing his revenge upon her. He only desires ‘to bring his brother’s woman to her knees.’ He is gradually taking Cha Eun Seok to destruction, while he feels his love toward her growing deeper and deeper in his heart.

Bok Gu is a cold guy character without any special concern for woman. Martial art of hand-to-hand fighting was just kind of his escape he choose from the shock of a spinster’s death whom he loved from a distance.

Review: Well, I downloaded this drama from some website 2 years ago and I had planned to watch it before anything else, but I watched it gradually over the summer. Anyway, I downloaded it mainly because of the main star, Rain (Bi, Jeong Ji Hoon), because I heard he was a good entertainment star, and I was like “why not?”. So, I downloaded all 16 and I had all intentions of putting them on a DVD, but that didn’t work out. ANYWAY, I came into watching it with an open mind, hoping it would be good. I was a little disappointed.

It might have been that I was expecting something more, but the acting was not up to par. It wasn’t horrible, but it something that you would’ve expected from a soap opera; average. It was an OK performance for all the actors. I don’t think it helped that the plot wasn’t that great either. I thought it was very cheesy at times and got very tired with it after a while.

And I hated the ending. It just kind of stopped. It was going so well, then it stopped. I was not impressed to say the least. It shows a weakness in the plot when they end things without the problem being finished. I would have been happier if things had developed more between Bok Gu and Eun Seok, but they didn’t. And I wish they had gone more in depth about Bok Gu’s hate for Cha Eun Seok; I wish they had made that more prominent. Because the way I saw it, he really didn’t hate her enough to kill her. He thought about it when opportunities struck, but he showed more compassion than I thought he would. And most times, it was to save his ass from being discovered.

I am not saying that this was just an awful drama to watch. It wasn’t. But it had a lot of things that I would have fixed. Overall it was okay, nothing special. I would say, if you really like Rain, you should watch it. So here are the links, and enjoy!
