Wonderful Life is a Korean drama starring Kim Jae Won and Kim Yoo Jin aka Eugene of the girl group S.E.S.  It aired from the beginning of March 2005 to the end of April 2005 with 16 episodes.

Main Cast:

Kim Jae Won as Han Seung Wan
Eugene as Jung Se Jin
Lee Ji Hoon as Min Do Hyun
Han Eun Jung as Lee Chae Young

Synopsis:  Han Seung Wan and Jung Se Jin bumps into each other at the airport and accidentally take each other’s passports. They meet again and Seung Wan and Se Jin end up spending the day together. Both having to deal with love complications, they end up drunk and having a one night stand. Back in Korea, Se Jin discovers she is pregnant and leaves to have the baby alone. A year later, Se Jin’s clueless sister ends up spilling the secret to Seung Wan at his engagement party, showing up with his baby daughter. Seung Wan and Se Jin are then forced to marry by their respective families. Complicated love takes place between Do Hyun, Se Jin, Chae Young and Seung Wan. The rest of the story revolves around the family’s journey in learning to take responsibility, and learning to love each other.

Review: Wonderful Life is definitely one of my favorite dramas, hands down.  It’s cute, it’s funny, it has it’s dramatic moments, but overall a wonderful drama to watch (and yes, that was a really bad pun).  Eugene is so cute and her look was great for this drama, and surprisingly she acts well.  Kim Jae Won is up there with my favorite actors.  I love his smile, it’s cute and sexy and…I fall in love every time I see it… He was great in this drama as well.

The idea for this drama was great, I think it was somewhat original for Asian drama standards.  I mean ideas like this were then used in other dramas like the Thai lakorn, Oom Rak (Chains of Love) starring Ken and Ann, but that is for another time.  But overall it was really great.  There were a lot of cute parts and other parts that were just heart wrenching.  Little baby Shinbi!!!!  She was a cute kid.

And the reason why I am kinda late on this delay is because I was re-watching this drama.  It is that good.  This is one of my favorites.  One of my favorite moments is toward the end where they start to have feelings for each other.  Their power goes out and the heater goes out and they both, Se Jin and Seung Wan, are freezing so they decided to get a big blanket and kinda huddle together.  It was such a cute scene and is definitely one of my favorites.

Overall, great drama.  Definitely a watch or re-watch, so check it out.  Well while I was re-watching it on crunchyroll, they decided to license it when I was on the last episode.  How unfair is that?  Anyway…here are the links.  Enjoy!

Full House is a Korean drama starring the signer/actor Rain (Lee Young Jae) and Song Hye Gyo (Han Ji Eun).  This 2004 drama is a remake of the manhwa of the same title.  It was an instant hit and there have been rumors of a sequel.  It premiered from July 2004 to September 2004 with 16 episodes.

Main Cast:

Bi (Rain) as Lee Young Jae
Song Hye Gyo as Han Ji Eun
Han Eun Jung as Kang Hye Won
Kim Sung Soo
as Yoo Min Hyuk

Synopsis: Han Ji Eun is a naive writer who got swindled out of everything she owned including her house by her best friends. Stranded in China, She managed to borrow money from an actor Lee Young Jae to return to Korea. On her return, she found out that her house was bought by Lee Young Jae. In an attempt to get her possessions back, she entered in a contract marriage with Young Jae for one year. In spite of losing all, Ji Eun manages to be cheerful and takes things in strike and the business relationship between the two becomes personal as they start to rely and care for each other.

Review: Everyone loves Full House.  EVERYONE! “What’s your favorite drama?”…”Full House.” Of course, everyone loves Full House.  I, on the other hand, LIKED it.  I did not love it, it is not my favorite, but it was decent.  This is another Rain/Bi drama and he was okay.  I don’t know what I like him better as, either the bad ass or the immature actor.  Song Hye Gyo was just glowing in this drama.  I like her look and as I understand it, she is still popular in South Korea, which is great.  Her performance in this drama was great.

Full House is cute.  No other word to describe it.  That can either be bad or good, depending on how it is executed.  I think this was on the okay/moderate side.  There were a lot of cute moments.  I especially like the one where Young Jae is trying to cheer Ji Eun up and he sings the “Gom Se Mari” (The Three Bears) song.  He does the American version of it and I just died laughing, it was funny and cute all at the same time.  But there were some overally cute moments that kinda made me sick, I can’t think of too many, but if you watch it or have watched it, you will know what I mean.

But I have to say for a 2004 drama, I thought that had the editing process down.  There is one scene where the two (Young Jae and Ji Eun) are arguing and the camera is going back and forth between the two.  Ji Eun’s back is to the kitchen/other half of the house and Young Jae’s back is to a window.  At one point when the camera comes to him, you can see in the window a man look into the window, then realize they are taping, and quickly jump out of the shot.  It was so blatantly obvious what happened, it kinda made me mad.  If I was the editor I would check for that type of thing, even they were crunched for time.  Unbelievable.

Overall, the story developed nicely as well as the characters, that were all very well-rounded and developed.  You might as well check it out if you haven’t already because I guarantee anyone that you ask will have seen and probably say it is their favorite.  Okay, that is an exaggeration.  But it is a good drama and I would watch it, especially if you like Rain.  Here are the links and enjoy!

Successful Story of a Bright Girl is a Korean drama starring jang Nara (Cha Yang Soon) and Jang Hyuk (Han Gi Tae). It aired from March 2002 to May 2002 with 16 episodes.

Main Cast:

Jang Hyuk as Han Gi Tae
Jang Na Ra as Cha Yang Soon
Han Eun Jung as Yoon Na Hee
Ryu Soo Young as Han Joon Tae

Synopsis: Jang Na Ra plays a cute and innocent country girl who often daydreams of rescuing her prince. One day, she meets Jang Hyuk who accidentally falls into her bath tub while she was taking her bath. Not off to a good start they started arguing over the matter. However, the story goes on to tell how Jang Nara arrives in the big city due to her plan to settle her irresponsible parents’ debts. She moves into Jang Hyuk’s house as a hired servant hence begins to teach the rich spoiled brat (Jang Hyuk) some manners through her down to earth scoldings and no-nonsense attitude. This drama gets totally hilarious in many scenes where Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk’s combination comes out as refreshingly cute. Jang Hyuk plays a rich and proud man who inherits his father’s business but is later betrayed by his own cousin and uncle leading to his downfall. On the other hand, Jang Nara plays a girl that he meets who help him pick up the pieces in his life, from defeat to success.

Review: I like this drama for a couple reasons. One is because of the story. Great plot line, they don’t meander into a whole other stories, like some dramas do. It is a little overly dramatic, like when Han Gi Tae throws things because he’s angry, but over all, it’s a cute story. Second, is the actors. I thought and still think that Jang Nara has such a babyface! She will always look younger than she actually is. And I thought the little bit of the accent she had was kinda funny. Jang Hyuk in this did a great job and worked really well with Jang Nara. The only thing that bothered me was his hair! It looked like something straight out of the 90s. He kinda reminded me of Nick Carter in his early days.

Anyway, there are tons of cute scenes between Han Gi Tae and Yang Soon.  I can remember, in my opinion, the best one.  It’s when she is cleaning his home and decides to buy goldfish.  When he comes home and sees them, he gets a little touchy at first (as I recall, I could be wrong), but she says to him something to the effect of how nice it is to have something living in the house and how much warmer it feels.  Every time I think about this drama, I remember that moment.

I think everything about this drama was right in line with the plot, except the end where Yang Soon decides to go into the army.  That kinda confused me a tiny bit, but otherwise, great story, great drama.  I definitely would definitely watch this if you have time.  Here are the links and enjoy!
